6 (Easy!) Ways to Start Living a Healthier Life (and Stick to it!)

by Cathy Bates on April 16, 2019

Sometimes it's the little things that make a big difference. To live a healthier life, you need a healthier lifestyle.  That means saying no to fad diets or crash diets, but instead, making meaningful changes to every day. Here are six tips to help you start living a healthier life!

Healthy Pizza

1. GIVE YOURSELF SOME SLACK

Yep, it's #1 on our list. If you want to start living a healthier life, you need to enjoy it! If you want a pizza, go for it! Opt for healthier toppings like vegetables and perhaps go light on the cheese.

Glass of Wine with Ice Cubes

2.  ENJOY WINE (WITH ICE CUBES!)

There's nothing wrong with enjoying a glass of wine, and studies show wine can be quite healthy.  If you're enjoying an afternoon out, opt for a wine spritz or - gasp - ask for ice cubes!  You'll enjoy your glass, it will last a bit longer, plus that little bit of water will help in hydration.

Woman Walking

3. FIND AN EXCUSE TO WALK

Whether it's taking an afternoon stroll, walking to the mailbox, or parking at the far end of the parking lot, make an effort to walk a bit more each day.

Healthy Snacks While On Computer

4.  FIND HEALTHIER VERSIONS OF YOUR FAVOURITE SNACKS

Snacks tend to be the place many people over-indulge.  Find healthier versions of your favourites to still feel full and satisfied, but still get that dose of healthy ingredients. MORE Cookie is the seriously delicious cookie that is filled with awesome ingredients, so you feel good while enjoying your daily snack.

Gym Sauna with Towels

 5. JOIN A GYM (THAT HAS A SAUNA)

Yes, you should go to the gym.  But you already know that... Why not make the gym a bit more fun?  Spending time in the sauna has been shown to be beneficial in reducing stress, improving cardiovascular health, and helping maintain great looking skin.

Meal Prep for a Healthier Lifestyle

6. USE SUNDAY TO MEAL PREP

We can't stress enough the importance of prepping ingredients for week-long meals.  Make a batch of rice, vegetables, and beans on Sunday to easily make satisfying meals (quickly!) throughout the week.
